- But can you handle it for a little while? He said really worried.
- Yeah, I am fine, just go. She said while holding her bleeding waist and breathing roughly.
- Okay, just hold on, I'll be back in a minute.
It took him about an hour to get some help, everybody was trying to get help for their relatives and all the doctors and nurses were already taken, he had to beg a young nurse to save his fiancée.
When he arrived she was already gone... he just saw her there, laying down on the cold floor, with all those rocks around her still holding her waist trying to stop the unstoppable flow of blood, she looked so fragile and tired...
- Amina, Amina wake up. He said in tears and believe it or not, she got to open her eyes full of love towards him and got to say "Thank God" while a little smile found a way to her face through the pain and her eyes closed once more time to never be opened again. And he cried in her lifeless body for minutes, for hours, even for days... What was left for him? What does he have to do now without her? What was the point of so many suffering? Nothing matters anymore he thought. The nurse just left in silence while some tears rolled over her face to see that scene and feeling really guilty for not being able to help that poor man.
Few days later she appeared in front of him while he was still hugging the dead body of her beloved one. Why would she say "Thank God"? He thought and got mad for a little while thinking she was happy to die, happy to leave this world filled with wars, happy to finally be able to rest, leaving him all alone, leaving him behind. Still he couldn't stop looking at her and imagining over and over again the future they could've had together if he could've gotten help a little bit faster, if she could've been a little bit stronger, if life could've been a little bit more fair.
The nurse sat down in a rock close to him.
- Peace. She said to him but he was so into his thoughts that he barely get to listen the small sound of her voice and failed to answer her.
- Wake up, Amina. He said again, pretty serious and waiting for an answer of her.
- I think she's not waking up any soon. The nurse answered him and he got a bit shocked noticing her presence.
- She may wake up still. He said coldly.
- Really? She asked him a bit curious over his mental state but he started crying and she got to notice he knew she wasn't going to wake up but he just didn't want to say it aloud. He wasn't out of the reality, he just wanted to be.
- I don't get to understand why she said "Thank God." He said weeping. I'm a believer too but it makes no sense to say those two words as her last words when I was right there in front of her... She could've said she loves me... or something for me, instead she said something to God! That God she's probably meeting since she has left me.
- I think she said so cause she was thankful with God for being able to meet you, for being able to see you one last time before she left. Maybe it was her own way to say you've been the best that have ever happened to her and she just wanted to give thanks to God in front of you for you to know that she's the happiest cause she was about to marry you and even when that didn't get to happen, she was happy because she was beloved by you, because until the very end you were there right next to her. It's true that she could've said her last words to you but since God's probably the one that she loved the most, I guess it was a proof of real love towards you saying to the One she loves the most she's deeply thankful to see and have the one she loves the most on Earth and she said those last two words referring to that fact. The blessing of your love in her life thank God. Also God knows better why He took her and where she must be and where you have to be. Probably now she's there getting new ideas for the rest of your life, being part of it even through the distance and through the oblivion. She said while pointing out a beautiful bunch of white flowers blossoming very close to them.
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you;
and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you.
And Allah Knows, while you know not.
(Qur'an 2:216)
